As a current college student, being conscious about my body is a concern of mine. About a year ago though, my body was in the worst shape of my life after I stopped playing basketbal after my freshman year of college. I went from a muscular 270 to 320 pounds after eating junk food and drinking TONS of beer and looked like absolute h-e-double hockey sticks. Now after getting a positive outlook on life and following most of Klaus's routines, I am now down to 260 pounds. My body fat went from 24% to about 14% as of this time. Even though I am still a ways to go to being ripped how I want to be, I am comfortable now with my weight on a 6 foot 7 frame. Just want to thank this website on everything it has gave to me.

I was to embarased to go to a gym so I started at home with no equipment. I started doing what I call wall push ups. You know just leaning against the wall and gradually moving my feet out farther and farther. Finally going to one arm wall push ups. I did a variety of wall push ups hands close together in a triangle shaps and as far apart as I could. I also did the same thing using the kitchen counter. Facing forward and backwards(like dips). I also did toe raises and squats w/o any weights. Then gradually worked up to small hand weights and then larger weights actually gallon milk containers filled with water. I hope to get out of the house and into a club soon. Thanks for the ideas and if someone else wants any ideas about a poor mans gym have them email me. Again THANKS. Mike

Hi Im only 17 but starting to get serious about bulking up. This might be a stupid question, but I was wondering something about pre-workout nutrition. You claim that consuming carbs during a workout should not be done because blood is diverted to the gut for digestion (a valid point), but then wouldn't that also happen with a pre-workout (within 1 hour) consumption of protien (which takes a while to digest fully)? OK, I was just wondering what you have to say about this.

I have found myself revisiting this site as I slowly make gains with bodybuilding, so as to re-enforce the ideas in your articles. Over the years I have attempted body building but was doomed to failler due to my attitude of wanting it all NOW! So now with maturity by my side and accepting small gains I am well on my way to creating a foundation that I can be be happy with and will be able to turn into some thing fantastic. I train 3 times a week Mon, Wed, Fri for a 2 week cycle trainig each body part 3 times over 2 weeks, I only spend 1 hr at the gym per session, watch my diet take a protein suppliment along with HMB and creatine, and of course get plenty of rest. My exercises are Routine "A" Squat, Bench Press,Lat Pull Downs, Barbell Curls, Calf Raises, Crunch. Routine "B' Deadlift, Press Behind Neck, Close Grip Bench Press, Barbell Curl, Calf Raises. I keep a diary with set goals be them only small but when I reach those I raise the bar "so to speak". this is the first time in my life that I have made some serios gains with body building, if only I had the maturity and knowledge years ago, but its never to late. About an hour later I consume a 60cal of a high fiber cereal/ 60cal worth of multi grain oats, 60cal ff milk, 80 cal of almonds, 120cal of ff eggs. two and half hours later a meal replacement bar 320cal, 2.5 hours later Chx breast 170, spinach 60cal, potatoe 100cal. 2.5 hours later meal replacement bar 320cal. 2.5 hours later Chx breast 170cal, spinach 80cal---bedtime.. I work in telephone sales so I am sitting on my ass most of the day. I take multi vitamins and have been trying a ZMA compound. Now the question. If I want to burn fat should I continue to wake and go to the gym and workout on an empty stomach? A trainer I spoke with said that doing so will cause my body to attack my muscle as energy and therefore is not wise. It was also mentioned that breaking down fat takes energy therefore he suggested an intake of some complex carbs before the workout to facilitate burning fat. I quess my big question is how do I workout, not burn muscle and hopefully burn fat. Do you have any suggestions? Power bar's gel seems that it would be a good suplement for the morning if it is wise to ingest some complex carbs before the workout. name: Pete email: peterhannell@fsmail.net logged in on: 4.9.105 at 7:10 comments: hi, im pete and im 17 years old. ive got a real bad problem about my weight. im too skinny, ive had this problem all my life and i hate the way i am. my whole bodys just too slim and im quite tall aswell so i think that just makes me look even thinner. i would like to put on weight and maybe gain some muscle aswell. i really would like to gain weight to build up my confidence and make me feel better about my self. im ashamed to take off my top on holidays even ashamed to wear shorts!.right now i weigh about 8 stone 5 pounds and im just under weight totally. the only thing is i dont have any access to a gym or weights at all. so i was wondering if there was anything i could do to put on some body mass relatively quickly without the use of weights? i would mainly liked to put weight on my legs mostly. please somebody help me.

Hello, I'm a personal trainer and have been trying to find a resource book for program design. I'm looking for a book that will help me to design a program for a the beginner, intermediate and advanced exerciser. Where to start, how and when to progress, which exercises to select for different goals. You have provided a lot of information on your site and I have a lot of information on this subject, but I would like a summary/cheat sheet so I don't feel like I'm reinventing the wheel everytime I get a new client. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
