comments:I thought that your page was very helpful. I have been enrolled in a gym now for 7 months. I joined a gym to tone up and it is hard for me to see the results I want. I work out 4 days a week. I do not have a personal trainer to help me. But I do recieve alot of help from the staff. There are alot of different ways to train. By reading your page page I have learned to listen to other suggestions, research and keep a postive outlook. Thank you very much.

comments:Infoseek Search Engine - the best. Found your actual site itself at Fitness.com. Can you please give me an example of an exercise routine for females that includes the amount of weight I should start with, or what is the rule to figure out what weight I should lift per exercise. Your site is wonderful - keep up the great work I'm sure everyone appreciates it as much as I do.

comments:Just fantastic Klaus! You know this information is so much common sense really. But the majority of people will still go to Jenny Craig and all those other (make me lighter by emptying my wallet please) scams, which just don't work. I've been working out for 5 years and wish I had the knowledge you have. But now I do and will visit your site regularly. Thanks!

comments:Hi Klaus, Your site is informative, comprehensive, easy to read & understand, entertaining - great, in other words. I've printed quite a few pages for weekend reading. I quote the following email, by victor rubba (vrubba@hotmail.com) that I found on the misc.fitness discussion group : "For a totally comprehensive and indepth look at ALL aspects of physical fitness, check out this web page I found. It has tons of interesting articles, and the web owner is always enthusiastic to answer questions and is open to suggestions looking to improve his web page all the time. Great for both men and women. Check it out." Quite a compliment for you and Victor was not wrong. The only critisism I have is that your highlighted categories on your home page don't "dim" after you've visited the particular page, so it's a bit difficult to remember where you've been if you were mucking about all over the place. I have a question : I am 1.93m tall and weigh 88kg. I am quite happy with my body, although I would like to add some mass. At the same time, though, I have a tube of fat around my waist, and albeit far from a real problem (as in obese), I am always torn between losing the fat first by doing lots of cardio (which I love) or by going on a mass gaining streak first - I'm not very clear on how I can combine the effort. I usually go to gym about 3 - 4 times a week, do a 15 min jog, then about 30 - 35 minute super circuit and then a 5 to 10 minute walk or jog, depending on how tired I am. I have been advised to do less cardio but don't feel like giving that up. What do you think? Best Regards Bennie Cape Town, South Africa

comments: started working out seriously with weights in march, and was getting great results. worked out at a faster pace one day without eating enough, result was that I passed out. My question is, is this uncommon and what type of meal should be eaten prior to working out? I am in excellent health, have exercised all my life so this was quite an impact. Thanks Leo

comments: I really enjoyed your website. I am relatively new to weight lifting, so I wanted to round up as much information as I could before I went to the gym. Your site was the most informative, to say the least. I really appreciate the fact that you are not pushing any specific products. I was originally concerned with putting on mass, as I was only 160 pounds at 6 foot 5 inches. Following your tips, as well as eating a high protein diet, I have put on 20 pounds of muscle in 5 monts. Thanks for all the great tips and advice. Mike

As a 42 YO that all of a sudden is interested more on gaining mass I am looking foreward to reading all the info you have provided and will let yyou know how my progress is.

comments: I happend to be messing around with the internet and found your web site by accident. I must say that your list of different subjects on bodybuilding are very imformative. I have been training for about 2 months and some of this I knew from before, about 2 years ago I wanted to compete but the gym I was at had closed down so I had to hault the workout for a while. Now I am back into the routine and I must say it is very hard to start over. Well in just 2 months I am noticing results, a big motivationer. Any way my question to you is the diet. It is very hard to know what to eat when to eat and how much to eat. If maybe I can get a sample list of someones daily intake from wake up hours to sleeping hours I would greatly appreciate it. It would help greatly. Thanks

comments: Found your site as a link off of another site on begiining exercise programs (gotta check the history file to recall how I got there). I'm 43 years old, tired of just getting fat. I've never stuck with any exercise program, but I fell this time will be different. Your site seems to have more facts and far less "sell" than most exercise-related sites. I've printed it ALL out for reading on the train. I'm also going to show this to my wife. She's been working out for 4 years and is in great cardio shape; she wants to look even better, though, and the info here (esp. on diet/nutrition with exercise) may help. Thanks!

I want you to know that this is THE BEST website that I have EVER come across. You have real INFORMATION instead of a bunch of pictures of meathead and ads for products. I like to get sound scientific data, not just information that is directed at selling you something. Since becoming this involved in bodybuilding, I've thought about going back to college to get a degree in something that would benefit the world of bodybuilding. The information you have posted here is exactly what I have been wanting to know about. As of yet, I haven't finished reading everything on your site. However, rest assured that I will be reading every inch of text here. Thank you for taking the time to create such a wonderful source of information.

comments: First of all, I found this page just searching for some stuff on weight training. Secondly, I'm so glad that I did. Not only has it helped me considerably but it has also been an inspiration to me. Since reading everything over and over, front to back, back to front etc.... I have not only learned so much but also made impressive gains in a short period of time. Everyone is noticing and it has made me more determined to get to the gym. I believe the greatest influence to my gains has been the protein timing and consumption. I must thank you again for this. I now have a chicken breast before I go to bed and a protein shake as soon as I awake. I also have protein throughout the day regularly. My diet has also changed for the better.....I don't actually call it a diet anymore, it's now a way of life, it's something I truly enjoy. I look forward to meal time now. The information you have provided has been nothing short of a miracle. It's about time someone had a page such as this. Thankyou once again for all your help and great advice, or should I say your opinion. Keep up the good work!

comments: Great page, my friend gave me the address i'm not sure where he got it. I would just like to tell you that for fat loss there is a program called HIIT training. HIIT means High Intensity Interval Training and is supposedly a better way to burn fat then aerobics. In HIIT training you sprint for 30 seconds followed by jogging for 30 seconds followed by sprinting and continue that pattern. It starts at 3 minutes (3 sprinting cycles and 3 jogging cycles) and every other workout you add 1 minute. Please email me back with your comments. Thanks.

I have just started weightlifting this week, and like everyone else, I really want to get some get the most gains possible in the first 2 - 3 months. I have a question concerning Creatine, I see a LOT of conflicting reports on this suppliment. Most say that it is a great thing to use but you must cycle, I have also read reports of dehydration, abdominal pain, muscle cramps and even death ! I suspect these problems are from over use of the product but any light that you can shed on this subject will be greatly appriciated. I just ran accross your webpage through an Alta Vista search !! comments: Hi, Klaus. WOW, i'm impressed! Yours is by far THE BEST weight-training site i've seen. I've been lifting for about a year and was looking for ways to "tweak" my routine. Your site provided lots of ideas -- and a ton of excellent information, AND plenty of encouraging words. I really appreciated how, for most topics, you discuss several points of view and include supporting data, so that the reader can form his/her opinion. Most other sites seem to have "tunnel vision" and espouse one training/nutrition regimen as "the only" or "the best" approach. I look forward to visiting -- and recommending -- this site again and again. Thank you for your superb work.

comments: Hello Klaus, You answered a question for me a couple of weeks ago and I appriciate your help very much, there was something that I wanted to know which I forgot to ask the last time. I have been using a routine for 4 weeks lifting weights mon, wed, fri, and 30 minutes of cardio on the remaing days except sunday which I take off. I have increased the amount of weight that I use considerably since the first week but after measuring each bodypart I only gained 1/2" on my calves and 1.0" on my thighs chest and forarms stayed the same BUT my biceps seem to have lost 1/4" !!! I did however lose 2.0" around my stomach and 1.0" around my waist. My question is - in light of my lack of gain, I have decided to start taking protein, flax seed oil and creatine to hopefully turn things around but my wife is concerned because we want to have another baby and she thinks these suppliments may cause some kind of problem with the baby (especially the creatine) Since these things are "natural" products found in things that we consume daily, I wouldn't think it would be a problem ? Can you give me any information about creatine and pregnancy ? Thank You, Rick.

comments: I'm new to the sport of bodybuilding and as such have been doing a lot of research on the net on all aspects of the sport. Been through tons of web pages and yours I found through doing a search, and have not been disappointed. It's the best free source of all round information that I have found so far. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this and for realising that there are people starved for information. Grant - Cape Town South Africa

comments: I would like to thank you for putting up such a informative page. I just started out recently and didn't know what exactly I should be doing. I've been following your advice for the past five weeks and I've noticed alot of difference in myself. The only problem I have is that I work 12 hour shifts three days a week and I don't get to the gym until 9pm and my workout last about 1 1/5 hours. My question is, should I really eat a meal after the workout before going to bed at around 11:30pm. I normally eat a apple on the way home. Is this enough to hold me till 6am when I normally eat a large breakfast.

I've practiced body building for 9 months now, and I began to really enjoy it, so when I used altacvista to check for body building it turned out with a few thousands pages, yours was among them. Keep it up!!

comments: I think your web site is great! I started doing free weights recently and the information you offer gives me a better understanding of what I want to accomplish and how better to go about it. I found your site a while ago and put it in my favorites. I can't remember where I found it, but I'm glad I did. One question I have, I am 53 and I was wondering if you have any information or suggestions on training for middle aged people? As you know, we baby boomers seem to be growing in popularity!! I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks, Nancy

comments: I've been training for abuout 6 weeks now and I'm noticing impressive gains thanks to you and this web page. I would like to see more sample routines. I know the variations are limitless, so perhaps you could invite web viewers to submit their routines and keep a running archive. I think this would give great ideas to bodybuilders of all levels. Keep up the good work!

comments: Great job with the web site. Very informative and helpful. I am 19 and just started working out to gain muscle. I bought a few magazine for the articles but found most of it to be advertisments and little to no information. Your doing a hell of a great job, keep up the good work Adam British Columbia

comments: In a recent issue (spring 1999) of exercise & health I read a quote from the magazine that said " as a rule, performing 10-12 sets for large muscle groups and six to eight for smaller ones is all that's required to stimulate optimal muscular growth. I read that 3-4 sets with 10 reps with enough weight on until muscle failure was enough. Which one is true?

comments: I was reading your Recent additions and was particularly interested in what you had to say about creatine. I do agree with you. But..... If people want a quick fix to gaining mass and looking pumped is creatine not the answer? Also, Do you think that the '10lbs.' is all that a person can gain on creatine for lets say a yr? I've read some posts on Muscle and Fitnesses bulletin board and they have some people who claim to have gained 25 lbs. Also, you mentioned in your mass gain section about EAS's Contest and how some people have gained 25-29 lbs. of mass. Do you think that after the contest they lost it all when they stopped taking the Phosphagen HP? I'd like your opinion. thanks, Martin Arredondo PS: I found your site listed on Muscle.com
