comments: I've been training for abuout 6 weeks now and I'm noticing impressive gains thanks to you and this web page. I would like to see more sample routines. I know the variations are limitless, so perhaps you could invite web viewers to submit their routines and keep a running archive. I think this would give great ideas to bodybuilders of all levels. Keep up the good work!

comments: I was reading your Recent additions and was particularly interested
in what you had to say about creatine. I do agree with you. But.....
If people want a quick fix to gaining mass and looking pumped is
creatine not the answer? Also, Do you think that the '10lbs.' is all
that a person can gain on creatine for lets say a yr? I've read some
posts on Muscle and Fitnesses bulletin board and they have some people
who claim to have gained 25 lbs. Also, you mentioned in your mass gain
section about EAS's Contest and how some people have gained 25-29 lbs.
of mass. Do you think that after the contest they lost it all when
they stopped taking the Phosphagen HP? I'd like your opinion.
thanks,
Martin Arredondo

comments: I found this website through EXCITE as I was looking for a website that talked about muscle building. I have been working out for about six months. After about 2 months, however, I didn't experience any further increase in muscle size. I've been trying to find information about why this is. The first place I tried was the Internet. Needless to say, about 99% of all the web-sites were trying to sell me something and told me absolutely nothing. Your website was the FIRST one I found that had very useful information. I apreciate all of the free advice, it was extremely helpful. Just what I needed! Now I know the reason for my lack of progress and learned many other very useful hints and information. Thanks again!

comments: This has been the greatest source of information that I have found on the internet. Thank you so much for all of your articles and weight lifting input. I've been lifting since Sept. 98. I have slowed down in my gains and haven't been losing the body fat that I desire. I'm always reading what I can. As you've stated much of the stuff on the internet isn't very helpful. It's basically a picture show. I'm really glad to have found your site. I'm going to try a heavy week then a light week and see if I can see improvement. I'm also going to try some aerobics, although it usually depletes my energy level which is not a motivator. I definetly must modify my diet. That is the difficult part. I'm not a junk food eater. That is why I'm baffled as to why I'm not losing the body fat that I'd hoped for. Thanks again.

I have been thinkin of changing to back & biceps, shoulders & quads, chest& triceps & calves. comments: Looks like a lot of good information here. I have just started to browse your site. I just turned 47 and I am relatively new to serious weight training. I have exercised on and off for the past 30 or so years (more OFF than on). I have to admit I often felt a little silly as an adult, pushing iron and wanting to have a really good physique. But now that I am 47 I finally stopped caring what other people think of my interests and I have started to workout regularly at a new gym that open at the beginning of the year. Your website should be very helpful to me. BTW, I have entered the EAS Body of Work Challenge to give myself a goal. Any help or advice for an older guy like myself would be welcomed. Thanks, Pete

comments: I think your web site is one of the best and the most informative I have ever read on this sport.
It gave me a lot of insight and much broader view .
I have a dilema. I haven't been training for the past year due to work and I jumped from 180 to an ugly 200 hundred. I am 6 foot tall. I want to loose the fat and gain muscle at the same time.
The horror of my weight made me go back to the gym, doing a three day on one day off programm with 40 minutes of heavy weight training and 20 minutes of cardio.
But If I follow your three day a week program, will I still be able to shed the extra fat and gain lean muscle ?
Help me because I am lost !!!
Yours truly.

potatoes may be higher on the GI index than frutose but what about nutrient density also calories count here to how full could you feel on 150 cal or frutose a potato fills me up everytime there has been some studies on weight of food basicly people eat the same weight of food to fill theris stomachs well you would have to eat many many calories of frutose to feel satisfied but only 1 medium or large potato calories count. get back to me on you feelings thank you dani

comments: I read your article on steroid use. I commend your open mind on the matter but have taken them myself before and know many people who have, I have never heard of anyone having serious or any side effect at all from them.(not saying it does not happen, just not anywhere close to the degree that people like doctors and media would like you to beleive. To many people look down on steroids and many dont know the difference between steroids and hemroids, and to boot, they think all body building supplements are crap. Keep in mind that these are the same idiots that are fat and out of shape and shove anything down their throats, and then try to give "us" advice on health. I do like your analogy on comparing aspirin with steroids, it is so true. There are so many things on the market whether it is the shit a doctor may prescribe(which i guarentee alot of that shit causes side effects) or the stuff you see everyday on the supermarkets shelves, and there are always going to be people who get side effects from them but you dont see any of that stuff being pulled off the shelves. Their advice to people who fall into that category is simply, "If it bothers you dont take it" too bad that does not apply to steroids and most of all supplements, but it seems like it only takes one person to complain about supplements and bang, they make them illegal. I assume you are from the states and i am from canada and unfortunately living canada it is hard to even get ahold of the good supplements that is avaiable in the states because the idiots here keep making the supplements illegal here. I could ramble on forever about this topic, because it is a peeve of mine, on all the narrow minds out there who make it tough on the people who like to work out and take supplements. Anyway that is my 2 cents on the matter.

I have decided (for about the 20th time now) to finally buckle down and get in shape and build size. I weighted about 120lbs. about 2 1/2- 3 years ago when I first started working out. I worked out on and off for the next 2 years or so. I am now starting over at about 140-150lbs. I am very encouraged by your site and hopefully I can make the most of the info you've provided.
thank you for the in-depth research you've done,

ps.- A quick thought about creatine- creatine attracts water to muscle cells and the water carries vital nutients and minerals that would fuel the cells. In addition, waste produced by the cells would be cleared quicker. It seems creatine would speed up the cycle allowing the cells to develope as quick as they could with as little bottlenecking as possible. But like you said I'm no expert, it's just a thought.

comments: Klaus> When I picked up my first set of weights 25 years ago. I wish there was a www and sites like yours to reference. In those days we had magazines which came out monthly and most articles were of the hunks who had achieved what I was looking for. Their routines and poundage made it impossible to follow so I trained off and on til 9 years ago I was in a car accident and forced to lay around and gain 40 lbs of fat and mostly around my middle. I have started working out again and see great gains in only 2 mos, after reading your article I realize I may suffer from a slight case of fatigue. I am stressed over the fact my mother who is 89 is dy ing from cancer, and have been hitting my workouts with extra zest. I plan to take a few days off and see if I recoperate and will try and rest up. I am on a high protien diet, and see from your article I must increase my cardio, I am only doing it one day a week. I will sigh off thanking you for passing your knowledge along to others who want to improve their image, and physique. i will email. later, forgot this was a guest book. LOL....ALan

(appox 4 mi.) and lift fairly hard. Is this too much? Thanks!

comments: First off, I don't have an E-mail address yet. I have to start
an account over at hotmail or something. But I did want to
say thank you, a lot. I am 16 almost 17. About to go into
the Marines. You gave me a lot of understanding about muscle
growth and development. As a normal guy who doesn't play sports
but likes to lift, I have never recieved any type of training.
I always just had to try new things out. But your advice has
saved me much time, and I am greatly appreciative. I am glad
that people such as yourself take time to try to teach younger
or less experienced people. Once again, thanks, and I'll be
sure to pass down knowlege I've accumulated as well.

I found your page by accident while looking up the fat grams in a certain food. Search engines work in mysterious ways. I love your site. I printed the whole thing. I am a novice bodybuilder who has had some difficulty reaching my goals so I am searching for information that might help. I have read a ton of stuff and I found your site to be the most helpful and comprehensive I have found. You also have a very good style that is informative and encouraging without being preachy. Keep up the great work and hopefully I will be able to email you again if i get my results.

comments: Hi Klaus
I have spent quite a bit of time going through your site and have learned a lot - really great info and very comprehensive
I am 52 years old and am trying to get fit again after too many years focused on a high presure job
I have been to a gym for a month with a friend to get started and have now decided to work at home on a multifunction Weider machine that has gathered dust for many years - I hope that I can make some good progress on that and then will go back to the gym
Unfortunately gyms seem to be mainly interested in getting people started and once they have your money they leave you to it - the info you have provided for me would have been great from day one but I did not get a fraction of it
I had started to get interested in diet due to a friend pushing whey powder for protein so I got on the net with a "weight training" query and your site was on the second page
Thanks

I continued the diet until early august. Right now I'm 175 lbs and feel great! I'm now trying to firm and tone up. I'm looking into reducing carb intake again to help my weight routine.
Best Luck to all.

comments: This site is a link from another bodybuilding site, and that is how I
found it. I've been weightlifting for two years now, and within the
past year just really got into doing it "religiously". Although I start-
out trying to lose weight, it seems that more has been put on. I was
happy to also realize that I was actually slimming down, and the extra
weight was coming from building muscle mass. I have to say that I enjoy
this a lot, and I envy you and all others that have done what you have
to educate people on bodybuilding. These articles and pictures are a
big inspiration to me to keep on doing this. I have to thank you.

comments: I found the site through a general search for bodybuilding information.
I have been an avid fan of aerobic activity for a few years and am looking
to gain some weight and size through more resistance training.
I found a lot of great information on this site- thank!
One thing I would love to find or meet someone who is good at - looking at an
image of the male physique and naming exercises that work specific parts of
specific muscle groups. For example - looking at photos of some "ideal" physiques
and asking "how can I develop this part of my back" or "How can I work my shoulders
so that this part grows more than this part." I am finding, as a relative beginner to
bodybuilding, that I wish I knew how to shape and emphasize parts of muscles to achieve
the look that I see in my head. Any ideas?
Again, thanks!

comments: Klaus,
What a great website! Congratulations on putting together
something really useful for beginners and the more advanced
alike. Your style is very relaxed and personal while it is
obvious that you are very well-informed and knowledgeable
about the sport. I've been looking for a comprehensive site
like this, and so far, yours is by far the best I've seen.
I've dabbled in weightlifting on and off now for years, and it
never seems to get me anywhere. I'm very tall and thin -- not
the ideal body type for maximum results, and I've always had
problems putting on weight. I'm going to try your routines,
supplements, suggestions, etc. for the next year and see where
it gets me. I've not done a thing, physically, for about the
past two years and am very out of shape, so I've got to start
out easy. I'm 6'3" and weigh 170. If I could just put on
10 pounds of muscle over the next year, I'd be thrilled.
Thanks for all the helpful and insightful information. Your
methods have obviously worked for you -- You look great, so
you must know what your talking about! Wish me luck.
